I took my love for animals to the next level by marrying a veterinarian. Take a peak into our lives, his veterinary practice- and read occassional ramblings from our brood of adopted pets.
Photos of greyhound racing in another country. I feel that we will be seeing scenes like this too if greyhound racing will be allowed in the Philippines.
Doggies, kitties, and friends belonging to other species, we are in dire need of your help to convince senators in our country, the Philippines, not to vote into law House Bill 5291 which will allow a company called Fox New Millenium Amusement Club Inc. to operate a greyhound race track in the province of Cebu, Philippines.
As you very well know, my siblings and I are adopted. We must be very lucky (hope I remember this when I have to eat kibble against my will) because there are still many homeless and neglected dogs out there who end up being murdered in pounds or in slaughterhouses by evil dog meat traders. Our government does not punish puppy millers, regulate pet ownership, nor set aside funds for free spay and neuter of pet animals. Our dog pounds do not even have enough funds for euthanasia so dogs are gassed, electrocuted or buried alive. Now, for some lawmakers to even propose the operation of greyhound racing in our country, is just outrageous. Its like they're begging me to bite their butts!
These lawmakers did not even mention anything about the welfare of the greyhounds when their racing careers are over in 3 to 4 years- coz I don't think they will be living in some fancy retirement homes. I wish that before raising their paws to vote, the congressmen had one minute to think that their move would encourage rampant and irresponsible breeding of greyhounds, that greyhound racing is a form of gambling which generates profits for hoomans and mean nothing but neglect and cruelty to greyhound racers who will live in kennels and wear muzzles for the duration of their careers. Don't our congressmen know that many developed countries have already banned greyhound racing?
I am told that the bill is now in the Senate for a second reading, and is really in danger of becoming a law very, very soon. The following senators have promised to vote NO:
1.Sen. Chiz Escudero
2. Sen. Gringo Honasan
3. Sen. Pia Cayetano
4. Sen. Miguel Zubiri
5. Sen. Jamby Madrigal
6. Sen. Rodolfo Biazon
7. Sen. Manny Villar
So in behalf of my Greenwoods Pet Clinic family who in their own small way have been helping homeless and neglected animals, I am calling all our friends to help us convince our senators not to vote this bill. I will appreciate it very much if you will send them emails in behalf of the dogs in our country, or if you can post and express your opinion against greyhound racing in your own blog.
Please tell the following Philippine senators not to vote for greyhound racing or I will send them a bag of poop:
