Jenilyn

My Mom in Iloilo City informed me last night that Jenilyn, one of my adopted dogs left in her care, had not been eating in the past few days. She also observed that Jenilyn's tummy had grown big and hard to the touch. Worried, I asked my Mom to immediately send Jenilyn here in Manila so she could be throughly diagnosed and treated. When Jenilyn arrived this morning, the Animal Doc whisked her from the airport to the laboratory for blood tested and xrays.

The test results confirmed the Animal Doc's fears; he had no other option but to remove Jen's enlarged uterus. By then, Jenilyn already had kidney failure and severe anemia due to cystic endometrial hyperplasia. Despite Animal Doc's valiant efforts to save her life, Jenilyn died in the operating table at 2:45 this afternoon, three stitches away from her incision wound being closed.

Now, Im wondering, would it have made a difference if I were with Jenilyn before she got sick? Would she have made it through surgery if a diagnosis was made three or five days earlier? Would my grief be easier to bear if I had more time spent with her than just a few hours every one or two months?

My dogs and I share a special bond. Even with eyes closed, I can distinguish each one of them from the subtle differences in their barks and in their smell. I would have immediately known if anything was wrong with them, just as they so easily perceive my joy and pain.

Two nights ago, I couldnt sleep. It was as though something was eating me from inside out: thoughts of death, of losing loved ones. Now I could swear Jenilyn was trying to contact me then.

Run free Jenilyn

  2. Sleep well, Jenilyn. We are so very sorry for her tragic loss.

But nothing anyone could have done would have changed things - it was just her 'time'.

I wish there was something I could bark to take the pain away - but I know that nothing really helps in these moments.

Just know that we are thinking of you all - and that pretty Jenilyn is now at peace and IS running free in heaven.

    With our love,

Things happen for a reason... even if we don't understand it. I am sure God needed another sweet angel with him.

It was a mad week in our house Heaven. And it was sad in yours. Please bear in mind that you are always in our thoughts!

And who knows, Jenilyn is now running PAIN-free and happy with my dog Bogart and Pica and Irene's Charlie!

  9. I'm so sorry about Jenilyn's illness and passing to the bridge. She really looked like a happy little dog in her photos. I'm sure you and your mom gave her a wonderful home and chance at life she would've otherwise missed. You certainly made a great effort to save her. Please don't feel guilt over not being with her. You may not have been able to change the path she was on. At least you know that you tried everything you could to save her in the end.

Jenilyn looks like a wonderful companion for T-man Angel. I hope they can be friends at the bridge.

    Run free, sweet Jenilyn...

  11. My Dear Friend,
It makes mine and human Granny's heart very sad to hear this news. But we know that God promises us that in Heaven it will be all joy. And she (human Granny) would not have any joy if her beloved pets were not with her in eternity. She awaits the day that she comes to 'Rainbow Bridge' to meet with her beloved pets who live their just waiting for her. Little Jenilyn is waiting for you I am sure. Blessings and Thoughts and Prayers to you. Many kisses, Ariel ♥

    ♥.......RAINBOW BRIDGE.......♥

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; Her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
